Welcome to Urban Grace Yoga
Here you will find authentic hatha yoga classes in Marrickville, and private tuition in the Inner West of Sydney.
Urban Grace yoga classes show us how to express the best of ourselves in our 21st century lives of busyness, business, harsh realities and hard pavements.
At Urban Grace we make time in our busy lives to open our bodies and remember our heart's desire.
We use our bodies and breath to explore how yoga reveals and expresses our unique gifts.
Therefore you can be young, old, flexible, stiff, talented, vague, athletic, staid - everyone is welcome to practice.

Teachers
Jane Robinson is the founder and principal teacher at Urban Grace Yoga. She has practised yoga for many years and is qualified to teach in Iyengar and Anusara styles. She co-founded of Reiby Hall Yoga Studio in Newtown in 1994. Jane has trained with the best teachers in India, USA and United Kingdom - BKS Iyengar, Doug Keller, John Friend, Bridget Kramer Woods, Betsey Downing, Swami Durgananda (Sally Kempton) have been most influential.
Jane is inspired by anatomy, the arts, nature and yoga philosophy. She develops themes from these subjects to teach yoga asana that reminds students of their innate joy and positivity.
Jane is passionate about inspiring students to align with their own beauty as well as aligning their physical body, and to practice yoga from that place of beauty.
Jazz Eastman
I became fascinated in yoga after attending my first class at the age of 14, more than 50 years ago. I first got a taste for teaching at boarding school, where in my last year of high school, I taught a group of school mates a few evenings a week.
Three years later in 1979 I attended my first Iyengar class and eventually decided to certify as a teacher. Along with two others, I took over the Newtown Yoga Room. After 29 wonderful years, I have just closed the studio in Newtown and invite those students to come to my classes at Urban Grace in Marrickville.
Now in semi retirement, it’s wonderful to be able to continue to teach this practice that has informed my life so profoundly. It is both a blessing and a privilege.
Celia Brown
Celia has been practicing yoga for over 30 years and is a long term student of Jane’s from Reiby Hall days. She is drawn to the precise alignment, but even more so to the sense of intention, mindfulness and philosophy woven through the practice. As a former dancer, she is continually amazed by the human body and all we can learn from it. She hopes to bring an easeful body awareness to her students, to connect them more deeply with their breath and to discover all that is possible in their own physicality.
Celia has completed 200-hour RYT certification and is registered with Yoga Australia. She is also undertaking Iyengar teacher training.

Yoga for Back Care
Yoga for Back Care classes focus on Pilates-style exercises that help you identify your core muscles so you learn how to emphasise strength and alignment. These are combined with the therapeutic yoga poses that help you learn how to move freely and with confidence so you can get on with your life without the restriction of back pain. Yoga for Back Care classes also include Restorative yoga practice to allow plenty of time to quieten your body.
'I was at the stage when I thought I would be living with back pain for the rest of my life. A friend told me about the Yoga for Back Care at Urban Grace, and I signed up because he was nagging me.
I was amazed. I felt so good after the first class that I signed up for the entire course. Now I practice a couple of the exercises at home and I can’t believe I feel so good now. I can exercise with my mates and do things I gave up years ago. Yoga for Back Care is fun and there’s a good chance it will help you change your life.'
