*Set up your mat sideways about 3 or 4 metres from the camera. When Zoom starts, line up one side of your mat along the bottom edge of the zoom screen.
You will need:
- Yoga mat
- Rolled up towel
- Strap or belt (or exercise band or man’s tie or a piece of rope etc)
- 2 blocks
- A couple of folded blankets or beach towels and/or bolsters or firm cushions.
Position your mat with the long side facing the camera if you can. The short sides of the mat are on each side of the camera frame.
- Open Classes are for everyone who has practiced yoga before. Classes are tailored to the students attending the class, and you are encouraged to practice at your own pace.
- Back Care sessions are for anyone wishing to learn techniques to relieve back pain by strengthening and stabilising their core. Yoga and pilates equipment is used to practice supportive and therapeutic sequences. Practiced regularly, many students find these classes help them gain freedom in their neck, shoulders, middle back, lower back and hips. You will learn exercises that you can confidently practice at home. These classes are popular so book early to reserve a space.
- Level 1/Beginners classes are for students who have not done yoga before or who wish to practice at a more moderate pace. All the basic yoga poses are taught and the class size is limited so you get personalised attention. As well as actual Beginners, the students who attend Level 1/Beginners classes may be returning to yoga after a break, after childbirth, recovering from injury or illness or they may be older, or stiffer, or they feel like practicing at a gentler pace.
- Practice Programs are for experienced students who want to develop a regular home practice. Sometimes the teacher practices with the group and calls the poses but does not offer teaching points. Most weeks, students follow a program of yoga asanas set by the teacher. Students gain insight and maturity by listening to their own internal instructions and practicing without too much input.
- Restorative Yoga classes are sequenced to provide the body with supported yoga poses that rest and renew the body and the nervous system. Props such as bolsters, blankets, blocks and belts are used.
- Yin Yoga classes hold the poses for longer timings so the body can release and soften.
- Adaptive Yoga is offered for people with brain and spinal injuries. At the moment the studio is not wheelchair accessible so Adaptive Yoga is only offered as private classes or in your home, rehab or support facility.
